Super Sock is a real all-rounder yarn. The extra-fine merino wool is next-to-skin soft, so you can use it to make lightweight garments, baby clothes, and accessories. The added nylon makes the yarn durable and easy to care for, especially as the wool fibers are also superwash-treated. With its springy texture and excellent stitch definition, it is the perfect yarn for textured knits and cable patterns.

As the merino fibers incorporated into this yarn are extra fine to be soft against the skin, socks made from this yarn are more suitable for lounging on the couch than hiking.

These skeins are hand-dyed in the colorway Glacier, a beautiful, semi-solid aqua blue perfect for light and bright pieces.

Merino Sheep's Wool

Wool is a natural protein fiber that is sheared from sheep of over 200 different breeds worldwide. It is naturally crimped with a lofty hand and has been used for its warmth for 10,000 years. Merino sheep, with their particularly fine and light-colored coat, were introduced to Australia in 1797, where the best Merinos are still bred today.

Nylon

Nylon is also known as polyamide (PA) and was originally developed in 1935 as a substitute for silk. It is one of the strongest fibers and at the same time very elastic, so it is often used today for sportswear and hosiery.

Yarn Structure

  • Sharp Stitch Definition: wonderfully round and springy 4-ply yarn, with a little stretch.
  • Smooth Structure: Soft but firm texture that holds its shape very well.
  • Fingering weight: Knit with 2,5-3mm needles and a gauge of 28-34 stitches per 10cm.
